Experience nature with all your senses

Experience nature with all your senses in the destinature village of Hitzacker

Including: The low-emission elka natural wood board "vita"

Get out of the city, enjoy nature and relax in the destinature village of Hitzacker. The sustainable holiday camp right next to the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve is an insider tip for families, cycle tourists and nature holidaymakers. From here you can watch beavers, storks or white-tailed eagles on the Elbe, cycle along the popular Elbe cycle path or take a leisurely stroll through Hitzacker with its half-timbered houses.

The village consists of comfortable Tiny Houses and Beds to Go with tented roofs, which are generously distributed on a site with old trees. Everything is made from sustainable materials - from the wood of the cabins, which comes from certified forestry, to the organic bed linen.

An organic bistro at the entrance to the village offers a delicious breakfast, snacks and drinks. Modern sanitary facilities complete the village ensemble. After an eventful day, visitors can enjoy wellness and relax in sauna huts and in hot tubs or end the evening on the terrace or by the fireplace.

The destinature village, which will open in autumn 2019, offers nature conservation education, environmental education and education for sustainable development. The concept envisages that a broad target group will be addressed: affordable and easy to reach, destinature villages can be used by single travellers, as well as families.

The village was designed and built by sustainability pioneer WERKHAUS, a manufacturer of sustainable home and office accessories, furniture and product displays. With the Naturhotel, WERKHAUS founders Eva and Holger Danneberg have realised their vision of comfortable and completely sustainably built holiday accommodation in the middle of nature. "I always wanted to create accommodation that is sustainable and close to nature, where you arrive by bike and feel right at home," says Holger Danneberg.

When it came to selecting the wood boards used, the Dannebergs opted for the multi-award-winning "Vita" natural wood board from the Rhineland-Palatinate family-owned company elka Holzwerke. The eco-pioneers from the Hunsrück region recognised early on that sustainability and building health are of immense importance in the production of wood-based materials. They produce the boards with environmentally friendly glue without isocyanate and an associated very low formaldehyde emission. The production was rewarded with the award of the Sentinel Haus Institute and the Blue Angel. As a sustainable wood-based board, it can be found in the DGNB Navigator (German Sustainable Building Council) under the registration code KXFGDE.
